Published by Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the list source states that the primary objective of this initiative is to show deterrent measures and to send a clear signal that we are putting war against corruption. The database serves as an important awareness tool to assist the public and organizations in conducting due diligence process before hiring, appointing or promoting their employees.
Furthermore, the database also plays a role as an education tools to prevent other people from committing corruption or bribery as well as deterrent factor for those who had been convicted as the data will be made public for three (3) years from the day it is published at the MACC’s website. The commission notes that the database is for general reference only. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission shall not be responsible for any error in or omission.
