A PEP is an individual entrusted with a prominent public function. PEPs generally presents a higher risk for potential involvement in bribery and corruption by virtue of their position and the influence that they may hold. Doing business with these individuals without proper risk mitigation can lead to regulatory and reputational scrutiny and fines.
