Agentic BIN/BIC Screening identifies potential sanctioned bank exposure from Bank Identification Numbers (BINs) and Business Identifier Codes (BICs), also known as SWIFT codes, in payment details.
Payment messages may contain these identifiers without naming the associated bank, leaving exposure that name screening alone may miss. Agentic BIN/BIC Screening addresses this gap by checking the identifiers within Transaction Screening and using the associated sanctions data in Arbiter alert review.
Data coverage and updates
Castellum.AI uses Arbiter AI agents to consolidate and verify BINs and BICs associated with sanctioned banks. These identifiers are maintained in a proprietary database and linked to sanctions records.
Coverage includes banks sanctioned by major global authorities, including US OFAC, Switzerland SECO, UN Sanctions and UK HMT OFSI. Newly identified BINs and BICs are added and existing records are updated as sanctions status changes.
How the BIN/BIC sanctions intelligence is used
- Transaction screening: Available as an add-on, Agentic BIN/BIC Screening flags potential sanctioned bank exposure from identifiers in payment details when screening transactions
- Arbiter alert review: Arbiter’s Sanctions & PEPs Agent uses BIN/BIC sanctions data to assess sanctioned bank exposure in payment alerts and adjudicate them according to institution-defined policies and procedures
